I use 10mm (~1/4") spacers on the front to get room between my coil-overs and 245 tires. This gives me ~ 3/8" space otherwise with about 1/8" the tire deflection would cause rubbing. YMMV.
Sorry, but what I'm trying to say in the rudest way possible is that it's a small increment. When you're at the 9/10ths prep and driving level, yes, it'll help. If you're not there - it won't be noticeable.
Sadly, some of us can't buy rims with the desired offset...
