I concur with David and Keith. Another good cage builder is Robinson Racing or Richard Martin, both in Atlanta. Read that article too.
Don't go with a bolt in cage in a 240z.
I like the gussets Scott put in his RX7. My first z's cage had those.

I run a modified Autopower cage. The standard Autopower cage is well built, but I added a crosstube and forward tubes to the firewall, and an extra tube across the passenger door. The only thing I dislike is that it doesn't mount far enough forward (through the dash. that's why I added the forward tubes)

Doesn't the Autopower cage still mount both the main hoop and rear legs to the rear fender well? If so, then they may be illegal next year if the rumors I have heard are true. All main hoops will have to mount to the floor.
The guy who bought my old 280 has since retired it and bought a Honda since he didn't want to re-cage the 280....

If that's the case, that'd be the dumbest rule ever considered. Lets hope they put a little more thought into it than that.

Amen.
It would make a 944 cage absolutely dangerous. The rocker on a 944 gets very wide behind the driver's seat and the main hoop would have to bend in so far that it would be absolutely dangerous. It would certainly preclude me from ever racing in SCCA with my 944.

Oooohh yeah! Go to TC Designs... I'd love to see how he does a non BMW or SM cage. Those cages are extremely well done.

The rumor came through 3 Tech workers. 1 of whom owns my old 280 with the Autopower weld in cage, and one that is his crew chief.
Personally, I never considered the Autopower cage all that strong when I put it in the car in the first place in 1989.
Both the main hoop and the rear legs mount to the front of the rear inner fender which would take all the load of both in a rollover.
I've got a 240 with a bolt in cage of unknown manufacturer that has the main hoop to the floor pan, and the rear legs go to just about the same position on the inner fender.
