Where is a good source for metric hardware?

Does anyone know of a good online source for metric hardware? I am trying to locate 12x1.5 in grade 10.9 hex head or 12.9 socket head cap screws. I usually go to Threads for the South which is local but not to big on metric fine thread. Most, if not all, industrial supply houses (MSC, McMaster, etc.) sell full box quantities and I don't need 50 - 100 of them.

Any suggestions?

What length and how many? I might have them in stock or my local supply will sell me singles. The 12MM I show are 1.25 and 1.75.
 
When I followed your link I though I you had found nirvana of metric fasteners but I too was fooled. having been born in Catonsville I have to give Maryland metrics a call.

The size is 12x1.5 fine thread. In that diameter 1.75 is standard (course) and 1.25 is extra fine (who knows what the equivalent Standard is?) Or maybe 1.5 is medium? :blink:
 
Okay - here's a challenge: Find me an M7x1.5 about 20mm long.

No, that pitch dimension is not a mistake. Machine screw, socket head, whatever. I'm not picky on that front.

I have a stooopid vehicle speed sensor hold-down in the Golf's gearbox, the first couple of threads of which are AWOL. And it's in the car, of course.

You're sure it's not a 7X1.25 which is a real oddball but is documented. 7X1.5, no references to that I can find

I hadn't counted 7x1.5 out yet..... and yes, it does exist but it is a pipe thread...
 
Hmm. Might be 1.25 - I'm going by what the guy at our local good hardware place said after he measured it but we'll double-check.

VAS 6028 is a VW kit for thread insert of M7X1.25 ---- I think we have our answer!!
 
Wow! I want to thank you guys for the number and quick responses to my question. I have glanced at all of the sites given, placed them in a "fastener" folder in my favorites and will look at them in depth this weekend when work goes away.

I have not seen "fine" thread socket head cap screws at any of the sites. Perhaps they simply are not made. Also there is an "extra fine" pitch available in some sizes and although unneeded is equally elusive.

To the guys asking of the particular size, to be honest there are several and once I get a proper list together I'll PM you if I can not find a site that has what I need and allows me to simply populate a shopping cart and place an order.

Again much thanks to all and in hindsight I should have come to you guys first.
