Will Francis be at the ECR in Sebring

It looks like another big hurricane is aiming at Florida. This one looks worse than Charley. As of today it is predicted to make it to Florida sometime around Labor Day and maybe just in time for our ECR race and regional races. Hopefully it will turn north and stay out in the ocean. Lets hope and pray that we get spared from this big one.

Those of us in NC take more than a passing interest in Hurricanes. Back in 1996 there was a Hurricane by the name of Fran (coincedence #1) that came ashore just south of Wilmington right around Labor Day (coin. #2). Back in mid-July that year Bertha had dumped on us pretty good, and the ground was still somewhat saturated. Today we are getting drowned by Tropical Storm Gaston (coin. #3) with Frances looming in the distance. Fran formed just about where Frances is right now, but if you lay their tracks down side-by-side it looks like history is getting ready to repeat itself.

Good news for you (perhaps). Maybe not for us.

If anyone is interested, the National Hurricane Center - Tropical Prediction Center is located at http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/

Current predictions show Frances turning just prior to Florida with the eye just offshore around Saturday.

Check out where they think it'll be by 2pm Sat. Right at the coast....about 90 miles east of the track.
