Z Wheel Nuts - 12mm x 1.25

I have been looking for good quality 12mmx1.25mm nuts for awhile. Never ran across much of anything. Last week I clicked on the banner advertisement on this site and asked the fellows at trackstuds.com if they had any and the answer was no. I conversed with the owner via email and got this response from him today:

Ron,
We have 300 of these to start.

Won't actually be able to ship any for a week but if these sell we will continue to stock them.
Let me know if anyone else is undercutting our price as we want to be the price leader on the simple stuff.

Thanks!

They appear to be what I was looking for and I'll be ordering up 20 today. Thought I'd post this for the other Z guys in case you'd not found some open-ended wheel nuts.

Ron did you ask what socket fits these? We run these on the Mazdas with good results and ours have a 17MM hex.

I'll find out but I think it was 17mm. The ones I've been running for years are 19mm, but closed and large, more for street bling.

Whats with the steele nuts? Unless you are using your lugs as ballast you might want to look here upgrademotoring.com/wheels/lugnuts.htm .

Hey Steve,

Thanks for that link, much appreciated as well.

I was wondering, what color of nice aluminum lug nuts do you have? That way I could figure out what color to spray paint the steelies when I swap'em out for you. :p

I think I'll get me a set of those, although they are pricey.

Steve:
I bought some circle track wheels for my Z a few years back. They come with lug holes made for 45 degree lugs (like circle track racers use) I tried to find 12mm x 1.25 lugs with 45 degree taper and only could find aluminum ones. I thought in race conditions where the wheels are torqued and reomeved a lot it might be OK but got nervous and just used steel. So.... you use aluminum lugs on your car and no problems? torqueing tips? how often replace?

You know I would bust you right away. I would feel the difference in the steering wheel in the first corner!

I like the SR35 nuts. Still pricey but not as excessive as some others like the Volks.
