CrapCan forum?

Can we get a "Crapcan" section?
Edit, please use the title; "CrapCan Racing" and "CrapCan-Am" so that it comes up in the search engines maybe/more/ better.

The Chumpcar site will edit and void any postings about running the cars anyplace other than Chumpraces.
We could gain some traffic here.
Thanks, MM

They haven't blown away my post yet .... but I won't be surprised if I get back after the weekend and find a big crater in their Sprint Race section. :)

Thanks for the positive comments

I give John a lot of money,
so I can take the hit a lot better than you..

As soon as he gets on, it will get locked and purged.
Let it play out .

Create a thread somewhere and pollute that... ;) IMO there's no reason to create an entire forum section for it, and besides none of us online have rights to create forums/threads anyway. - GA

Riddle me this.. What class do you race?
How many cars in your last race?
Looking around at the social event. How many under 50yr olds were there? 50 is young for SCCA!!

Where do you think that SCCA will gain members from?

Do some basic math. Sebring, 96cars @ 1000per (chumpcar)
SCCA 200cars @ $215+-
First ; We could use the money. to pay for the undersubscribed classes,
next amnd most important. We need new young racers ,(with new attitudes.)
Dont take yourself to seriously .

First we applaud your efforts to bring new members to this site,

Second, start any Crapchumplemonscar discussion in the Endurance Racing forum, Or for that matter ANY WHERE.

Third, Stop getting aggressiive every time some dosent agree with you in thinking the Crapchumplemonscar thing is better than sliced bread. Its getting a little old.

I got bashed the other day for indicating some Chump Cars can be funny. Supposedly there is nothing remotely funny in Chump Car and by saying that I insult every car and team that races.

I've learned two things on racing car forums:

- Do not disparage any kind of "crap can" racing, regardless of whether it's intended to be funny or serious, and

- Do not disparage any Apple product, regardless of whether it's intended to be funny or serious.

Either situation can expect responses in intensity similar to disparaging Muhammad, Buddha, and/or Jesus (the bearded one, not the one in swaddling clothes).

Just sayin'.

I agree with some of your sentiments regarding the SCCA. But, there are plenty of Crap Can forums around. No need turn the Improved Touring forum into a Crap Can forum.

If you want to get more input from non-SCCA race groups then try the Brown Board. If you have to ask......

Brown will not add SCCA members or interest in SCCA.
IF SCCA truly wants new faces and new money we should use all available tools. To me that includes the Google search. Ask any kid how to find out more about something and it will come to "google it". If the forum header has the google term in it along with some meta tags. the search will hit at this Forum. simple as that.
If you want to sell to kids you have to show up in Google.

If my post come off as hostile to some , than maybe you are reading into things that are not there. I have raced with SCCA since I was 18, now I am 56,m so I have seen the ups and downs of SCCA over the years.
I am old , ADD, write poorly, spell poorly and not politically gentle. Sorry.
Remember, that getting anything done in SCCA is like poking the elephant with a toothpick. I like to get a running start.
I have raced ITB when there were 30 B cars.( 1992+) I still have the car! ( my Son found it and bought it) I paid 500$ for it and ice raced it also. It was on track for 1000$ and near the front, wellbehind Phils' Volvo.. I was one of 3 companies that rented race cars , around 1996 or so. Now there are piles.

I am also aware of the guys that the race car is a hobby, waxed and clean in the garage or hauler. To me , the racing is the hobby and the cars are simply tools to race. I live to race with my kid. My 5 ugly cars sit outside covered on the trailers. They seem to get smacked after any wax comes in contact.

My "Riddle post" is not meant to be hostile, If you have answers to the SCCA "Gray" problem ,Iam all ears and will help you pave the road to the solution. If you are not part of the solution than you are part of the problem. Please help solve the problem. If you think that there is no problem ,I'm good with that also.
The "Crap Can" title is not ideal but it has been already applied on the web. It will be hard to change. It is what it is. If any of you have seen the cars they are IT cars with lots more development. Mine is about the worst looking tho. It was perfect shell that made around 80 Oval track starts( with 10 or more feature wins) . When Michael went to school , I re- missioned it, cutting the roof , adding the turbo and increasing the rearsteer with toelinks, etc..

Since you've been around a bit longer than I have, you do realize this is not a new problem? SCCA's "gray" problem is pretty simple:

- Racing is expensive
- Young people generally do not have money.

Granted, "crap can" racing can be (but not necessarily "is") cheaper, but as with All Things Racing people start to get too serious about it and it gets more expensive. Toss in rising insurance mandates and there's only so much one can do to motivate young(er) people without income to make an expensive hobby their primary life priority...hell, I've been around long enough to remember how Showroom Stock, then Improved Touring, then LP Prod, then B-Spec, then The Next Big Thing were all going to be the answers to "the gray problem."

So my solution to the "gray problem" is to accept that it's something we have to face as a normal of this hobby. Doesn't mean we can't find lesser-expensive ways for those interested to participate, but don't think there's a magic bullet that makes racing suddenly affordable to the masses.

"Crap Can Racing" is a nice idea. But it's not a solution to life's problems. Enjoy it while you can.

Great!! This sounds much better for one of the more globaly SCCA forums where they talk about various forms of racing. We don't have Spec Miata, Prod, Formula Vee, Formula Ford or most other categories on ImprovedTouring .com. Plus this isn't a site run by SCCA.

Then as Greg said, we don't have the ability to add another category even if we did want to. But as mentioned, start or use this thread as the CrapCan racing area.

They are already here, Saw a well known Pro Team at NHMS in last Octobers LeMons Race. Can you say M3 in a plain white trailer pulled by a plain white truck.

3 guesses which team it was, and the first 2 dont count. The money teams are here.
