Is it IRP time yet?

I'll try and get some a copy of the early entry list to post.

I had actually planned on asking you today if you could do that. :023:

]We're looking forward to seeing you on the hill at Mid-Ohio in July (that would be FTW since you will be in Indy the first weekend).[/b]
Yup, I won't get to try out the new track until the end of July this year. I've actually been there twice already but I have yet to turn a lap on it.

Sorry, nothing yet beyond round numbers we had last week which included 14 in Group 1 (ITB and C) and 18 in Group 3 (ITS and A).
I don't have anything that would include the typical giant load we receive the Monday before an event.

Friday, May 5th: Mostly Cloudy, 66°/45°, 10%

Saturday, May 6th: Sunny, 63°/44°, 10%

Sunday, May 7th: Sunny, 67°/48°, 20%

Nervously waiting for Saturday morning practice. Getting the car aligned today and packed. Its as ready as it will ever be.

Leaving in a minute so we can catch the afternoon test sessions.

Steve, if you read this today, could you please call me at 614-214-0792. I think I may have a favor to ask from you. Thanks.

Kevin, sorry, just now reading this, did you ask me the favor?

Thanks to all that came out and raced. Great to see everyone.

Kevin's car is faster than ever and the son-of-a-gun not only won the ITA races both days but managed a new track record even though he backed the car into the T9 tirewall during Sunday's race! Needless to say the corner workers awarded him the hard charger award on Sunday.

There should be a whole lot of pictures posted up on the indyscca.org website by weeks end.

It all got sorted out so don't worry about it. I couldn't find my SCCA membership/license upon leaving Friday morning and just needed someone who had access to a fax machine that could accept a fax from the SCCA offices showing that I was legal to race. Luckily during the test day on Friday, I was able to get a really nice lady in the IRP main office to help me out. She waited for my fax, called me to tell me she got it, and I went over and picked it up. :023:

Old record: 1:50.5 (mine from last year)
New record: 1:49.3

The video of me backing into the tirewall is pretty good. That was a heck of a hit and I'm shocked that it didn't do any real damage to my car. Luckily I still had 12 laps to make my way back up through the field. I'm still kicking myself though for making a couple of stupid, mental mistakes this weekend. I blame the six month off season. :P I loved how the girl handing out the awards Sunday afternoon awarded me the Hard Charger Award. "Yea, and you won the Hard Charger Award too. Apparently you qualified on the poll, ran hard into a tirewall, had the whole field pass you, and still came back to win."

But once again, more awesome weather at this event, a good dinner Saturday night, and some of the best trophy's of any race, anywhere. I really don't know why more people don't do this event.

So I wasn't the only one that sat on the pole and stuffed the car into a wall? I feel better now. Unfortunately my ride didn't hit soft and fluffy tires.

Well, she didn't award it to you, the corner workers did after you massacered us after your shunt.
That video was pretty amazing.
Vicky is Pete Hylton's daughter and is also a racer (SRF). She's having some medical problems so she could not race this weekend.
Yes, it was a big disappointment that the car count was low. Our only guess at this point is that $3.00 gas is impacting folks pretty hard. It will be intersting to see what car counts are like at events this summer.

Well, I can say that the $175 worth of gas I put into the RV on the way home hurt a lot. That was even at only $2.66 a gallon.

Steve, I was watching my in car camera from Sunday's race and do you realize that when I caught up to the back of you and Matt coming out of turn 15, you pulled about 3-4 car lengths on me down the front straight before turn 1? Especially once I hit 5th gear, you rocketed away from me. Damn SR20's... ;)

Chris, where you piloting one of the Miata's that came in with about 7" of toe out in the rear? Was that from turn 15?

I am wondering the same thing myself. Getting pulled handily by an ITA Sentra makes me wonder <_<

Makes it tough to get passed a non-class car. :bash_1_:

It must be that my car had a bad set of plugs in it.....

Paul,
I thought everyone knew that RED cars just look faster :D ---- except when they put a wheel off at the exit of turn five and bad things start to happen quickly!!! I rolled it off the trailer , stuck it in the garage and shut the door. :(

Sorry if I screwed up the flow of the race with the full course yellow.

Anyone have a rust free, 2nd Gen RX-7 roller they need to unload.

 I'm not implying in any way that there's anything illegal about it, just pointing out that those SR20's are freaking torque monsters, even when stock. Last year at the ARRC, a fully built SR20 showed up that would solidly whoop my ass down the straights every lap. It's quite awe-inspiring to watch. Kind of like watching the Doyle's hit the straights in their ITS TR8's - vroooooom!

Michael, I'm glad to see that you're ok. I didn't see the accident but it looked like it was a pretty serious hit. I heard later in the day that you were seen up walking around the paddock afterwards, which was a little relieving. I'm sorry about the car, but I think I can speak for everyone when I say it's great to see you were ok. :023: How hard is it to find those RX-7 tubs?

Yeah. Mine was the red one. Upper and lower control arm bent. Knuckle broken. Subframe bent. Motor mount broken. Wheel broken. And two tires torn up. Fortunately the car owner had enough of a sense of humor about the whole thing to call me Monday and tell me IRP had sent him a bill to repaint the wall "you tried to knock down".

And $3/gal of gas had a LOT to do with my car being parked this year. I said last year if it went over $2.50 I'd park the car. I finished out the year but won't get it out this year. Unfortunately where the economy is headed as the result of those gas prices doesn't make the future look too bright for fivolous and expensive activities like racing.

Kevin,
I was glad one of my off season purchase's was a HAN's device, I was a little sore but nothing to complain about. I should be able to pick a tub fairly cheap, just a whole lot of labor moving everything over.

I was crewing on Sunday for my brother ( group 4 ) , I came down early to the grid to watch the ITS- ITA race. I have to say that it was entertaining to watch the orange Acura move back to the front after your off at T9. :happy204:

Paul,
I just seen the results for Sunday's race, The one BMW that ran ITS was almost 2 seconds quicker than last year. It does not look like the SIR slowed them down any.

I am still sceptical about Chris's drop in lap times from Qual to Race. He dropped 3 seconds. Selby must have given him some good advice or something else shaddy was going on :D

I really need to stop fooling around and get a H&N restraint system. Luckily my hit was into a nice, soft tirewall...and backwards. :D I'm glad my race was entertaining for the crowd, but I'm still doing this :bash_1_: over it.

Kevin, just think what Greg A. will have up his sleeve this year with his built car. I was pretty surprised at how well the motor ran this weekend considering it's the original 135k motor and has mismatched rockers and shims on it after I tried to blow it up last year at IRP with a missed shift. The idle and timing was a swag as well as I could not get the car in timing mode and did not have time to have someone with a Consult fix it. Guess I swagged it right, although I kept waiting for it to go poof going into T1 (red line in 4th) and T9 (red line in 3rd). They are damn stout little motors!

Michael, I was glad to see you walking to the ambulance when I cam back by the first time. I was following you and got to watch the whole thing as I came around T5. Glad the car didn't climb the wall any more than it did and VERY happy it didn't come back across the track in front of me. Caught the end of it and the giant dust/debris cloud on the in-car video. Once I get my PC set back up at home (moving in to a new house right now) I'll post it up for you to see. Ian Linn called me from Florida last night to lament the passing of the car. :(
