Lap records data

Same topic came up on the prod forum and they are compiling a database for every track. Anyone willing to put the information in a database if we all submit records from our regions tracks??

We need a common place to store all SCCA track records. Sounds like a job for Topeka but for now in the northeast the www.NeSCCA.com site will do.

Contact the [email protected] to have your tracks SCCA records archived and saved. Carl and Kathy do a great job on that site. The NHMS documents there are PDF so to follow the trend please provide that.

The problem is keeping a central DB up-to-date. Our region maintains track records set at our events at our three local tracks, but expecting NESCCA to keep track of them is very unlikely, and over time those lists are going to be very stale.

I personally wouldn't even set up a common repository unless I also set up a process to maintain it.

That is the idea, what good is data if it isn't current. This is Database 101, a computer science intern can set up a database in their spare time. Even an unemployed computer geek from New Jersey can do it.

We all have to provide SCCA (Topeka) with the final audit, the 'Book' as it is called in our region. With in that audit (the 'Book') are new track records. This is how we would report to a single point of contact at SCCA and that would then be updated to the track records database. Keep it simple, we could even have it so the race chair or RE could update the database.

One day it would be nice to actually record all race results. Actually keep track of all races and results in a central SCCA database. We all belong to the SCCA, why not have our club keep track of our records???? or do we want 50 separate methods to track data for 50 separate tracks?

So I'll officially volunteer to set these up for IT* classes on http://www.roadraceautox.com

I'll write up a page that will list what I get in an email and when I get some time I'll make a form where users can update them themselves.

For now can you guys send me all the track records you know and can confirm to [email protected]. Please use the subject [IT Records] in your email Or send me links to websites where I can easily obtain them.

I will keep ITR,ITS,ITA,ITB,ITC,IT7 and just because I always wonder, T1,T2,T3,SSB and SSC.

Thanks for volunteering your time Tom, never heard of roadraceautox.com though, wouldnt setting something up on this site be better?

My question: When we get the results back and theres the *new track record at the bottom, what database is this being compared to? Why do only some races show up on mylaps? Could mylaps provide a more comprehensive and automatic system for us?

The sandbox is you could say the "informal" IT and other stuff discussion board :)
