Summer Thunder at NJMP

Mickey: I had considered the same approach (although Matt found out I needed some suspension parts, too). Had asked the sandbox "How neat is neat?" to find out whether some steward would kick me off the grid with a non-color matched fender/door and a hammered-out quarter panel, and got mixed replies - apparently there have been such cases somewhere in the country.

However I suck at bodywork, and futile (and slightly inebriated) attempts of quarter panel hammering by myself, Dave and his friend were unfortunately videotaped and placed on youtube; a google search to investigate the origin of an oddly large number of viewers later revealed that the video titled "3 guys and a hammer" had been linked from a website that collects links to adult videos with same-gender interests.

If you have some rudimentary skills at shaping metal, the above pitfalls are probably not too much of a concern for you.

I think if you do what you talked about and cleaned up the black rubber marks, it'll be fine. Maybe worst case they'll note it in your log book and need to get it better by the next event.

Yes Kai, that was quite disturbing. LOL!

I wonder if SCCA will let me just repair the glass, get a mirror, lamps, change fenders and just hammer out the rest of the dents before I can ran at NARRCoffs?

I agree with Greg's response ... particularly at the end of the season. You may come in for additional Miata-like scrutiny from the stewards :D but it shouldn't interfere with your racing.

With the repairs that you suggested, you will be welcome at TreadZone Pro IT at the Glen and the JRRC at NJMP

See ya at the races

Terry

Had you ever seen Crazy Joe's car at its worst? If they let him run, they'll let you run!!

I saw Joe at Pocono 2 weeks ago. You would not believe the shape he is in. He lost a ton of weight and looks great.
