2550 lbs, That should help. My car will never get there. Too old with too many things not quite done in the interest of weight. :)

Good time to ask. Manual steering. 30 pounds? What years actually had it? What brackets are left on the motor?

Yep, I have Manual steering, '79 aluminum bumper, interior all gutted. Although when I cut off the quarters last winter about 5lbs of gravel came off with them.

At the ARRC last fall our mustang was hit by a miata and every corner was bent. We finished the race, however the front of the car has already been clipped twice so we are building a new car right now. It will be interesting to see how low we can get it. We are really looking at everything to save weight. I even have a guy out in the hills that is going to sand blast the entire car inside and out, top to bottom to remove all the paint and under coating. I will give a full report on where we end up.

So how many letters did it take to get them to reduce the wieght

None. The car was run through the classification process and deamed too heavy given its charateristics. See the Feb Fast Track addendum for more changes - up and down.

We had a Mustang that was at or almost under the original weight. We were on the way to going UNDER when the opportunity came to sell it.

No secrets here, just judicious part selection, and carefull assembly, and some machining.

Good luck. I know it can be done legally...we did it.

Now, I'm a little interested in the EP Mustang...just not interested in National racing. My competitive instinct juices are flowing, and I'd almost like to do one to see how close I can get to competitiveness with it.

Good racing.
