Where would it fit ??

Well....I got my vts sheets in the mail today :023: I'm going to try and get the tdi classed in ss or the soon to be called "t" class...Any hints on where to find ALL of the information I need ? Also I'm not sure the options that were avaiable on the tdi?? ie suspension stuff...The car will not be competetive without some help..maybe the spec package they allow for the ssb vr6 ?? What are your thoughts?? thanx !!

Before you get too involved in filling out forms, understand that the response is a foregone conclusion if you just request classification of the TDI - "No."

What you probably need to do, is write a letter requesting the creation of a new class, or specific changes to the SSS to allow classification of turbos and/or fuelies. Without a class where the car fits, there is no way that it CAN be seriously considered for classification.

Requesting classification in hopes that it will somehow create a class just won't work within the current system. You gotta be specific.

Now, if we were truly in the world of T3 and T4, you might have a shot. Turbos are already listed in the Touring category.

Ok...now you have me confused :119: Is'nt touring the same as ss except for the shocks and rims?? I know some t cars are already turbocharged ,that's why I thought it might be the most logical fit. Unless you think it might be a better fit in IT?? I'm open for suggestions, ideas .... B)

I don't know all there is to know abou the Touring category but you are going to find an age cut-off there, I think - in that, once a car gets too old, it's no longer eligible. Turbo cars are listed but T2 is the slowest CURRENT T class, and this car ain't up to that, I don't think.

You may be talking T3 or T4, which as I understand it are going to replace SSB and SSC - a good thing, as far as that goes. There are NO turbos in SS at this point in time.

The TDi is a complete non-starter in IT under the current rules.

Hey - for all I know, someone in Topeka will think this is a great idea so why not go for it. I just have a suspicion that it's going to confuse the bee-jeebers out of them.

Kirk,

T3 is actually a currently defined class. It was Regional-only for '05, but the T3 cars were allowed to run as T2 cars in Nationals. There has been talked of changing SSB/C to T3/4, and merging the current T3 cars w/ the current SSB cars, for the new T3 class. I'll have to go back and look at the T3 cars and the SSB cars, but from what I recall, the T3 cars were a tick more powerful than the SSB cars.

Personally, I think they should keep T3, and convert SSB/C to T4/5.
