ITAC News.

Matt, we ran an RX-8 in Continental without the fuse because the ABS was messed up and could not be fixed, you are probably OK on the street but on the track it is awful because the ABS computer also controls the brake bias. Many cars are definitely not as easy as a fuse or wheel speed sensor. Many most likely will take a reflash or aftermarket injection system with brake line replumbing and the addition of a brake bias controller. This will continue to get harder with the mandatory systems on cars like traction control etc.

Thanks guys. I guess I am just wondering if it is still being talked about or if it was already shot down completely. I am guessing it wasn't part of those 21 letters... but if it is still a topic at the ITAC then I would wait until 2012 to race in ITR and just run ITE This year as I figure the car out and the ITAC debates a little more.

For the record I have not changed my opinion on ABS. As I have posted in other forums I do think it is safer and an advantage. I don't want to thread hijack... but if you do want to talk about ABS then start up that thread again with a simple search from earlier this year. :) I only posted here to see if it was still on the agenda or not.

Thanks again everyone!
Stephen

Changes to the ABS rules are not currently on the ITAC agenda. We discussed and voted on it earlier this year with member input, and voted against making changes right now.

Stephen, you might also contact Luis Rivera @ RPM Engines (formerly of Longhorn Raceworks) 281-881-3853. He's got an RX8 that he runs in EP. the shop is closed since he'd out of town until about the 4th, but it's worth a shot to call him if you don't have any luck elsewhere.

Welcome to 2011! Although the season hasn't started for most of the country, the ITAC agenda is still plenty active.

The ITAC will have a couple of new faces this year. Please welcome Charlie Broring and Travis Nordwald to the committee.

The ITAC now has the following members:

Charlie Broring - MD
Danny Doern - FL
Lee Graser - SC
Travis Nordwald - KS
Gary Semerdjian - CA
Josh Sirota - CA (chair)
Jeff Young - NC

I'm looking forward to making more great progress for IT with this very capable and diverse crowd!

As always, my door is open if you want to discuss any IT issues at all. Drop me an e-mail or a phone call and we'll talk.

Go easy on the new guys :-)

Thanks Josh! Can you tell us what class and what cars these guys drive in IT?

Travis Nordwald - KANSAS side of Kansas City, and University of Kansas Graduate, we hate Missouri. :)

1996 ITA Miata for me. Started in SM in 2003 after college with Midwestern Council when I lived in Minneapolis. Moved back to KS at the end of 04 to pursue a couple more degrees and started with SCCA in 05. Ran SM for two years then went IT when a bunch of free tires fell in my lap from friends who had to switch to Toyos. First car was totaled by a friend and I bought another SM out of Colorado that I converted to true IT spec that I've been running the last two years.

Just hope I can help.

We added a midwestern ITA guy and a MidAtlantic ITB guy, helping fill holes left by departures. Both IT guys.

Looking forward to working with both of you next year.

Gary and Danny have been on since early last year. Danny works/worked for Irish Mike and crews and wrenches on his IT cars, and drives them on occasion.

Gary? I'm not sure of your background, so I'll let you handle that one.

Guess Travis wanted to see what it was like on the inside........and be on the receiving end of the IT discussions. :) We can now expect the ITA Miata to gain 200 lbs, right? :026:

Good to see some new blood and folks willing to work on the committee.

David

I actually sent in my resume a year ago during all the turmoil. I felt that I could help improve the working relationship with the CRB given my positive relationship with a few of them.

And just as Andy did, I plan to recuse myself from any miata specific voting.

Stop. He hasn't even started on the committee, and has shown every indication of being a guy who will try to put personal interests aside for the good of the class. There's no reason to be a jerk about this now.

He's an ITA racer, and we welcome him to the committee.

No, you added a midwestern Miata guy.
